Calhoun Signing books
Jack Calhoun joined The Faith & Politics Institute, members of Congress, congressional staff and other guests to discuss his new book, Hope Matters: The Untold Story of How Faith Works in America in the U.S. Capitol Building on February 26, 2008.

Calhoun’s book is based on interviews with people involved in the public sector: directors of nonprofits, educators, doctors, police and public administrators. These people come from different faith backgrounds: Christians of different denominations, Jews, Muslims, Hindus and others. The common link between all interviewed, regardless of their faith, is that their personal beliefs inspire their work. They don’t push their personal beliefs on others; they quietly illustrate their beliefs through their actions.

Calhoun reading
Calhoun's talk focused on the role that faith plays in public life, both among the American people and among our country’s lawmakers, and how this can be used to change America for the better.
