On the evening of June 10, 2008, members of Congress, congressional staffers, religious leaders, educators and others gathered in the Rayburn House Office Building to hear
editors Sam M. Intrator and Megan Scribner discuss their collection Leading from Within: Poetry That Sustains the Courage to Lead.  The forum was sponsored by the Michigan-based Fetzer Institute.

The book contains poems by various authors that have inspired leaders from all walks of life. Members of Congress who contributed to the collection, including Rep. Tom Allen, Rep. Tammy Baldwin, Rep. Lois Capps and Rep. Jim McDermott, were there to speak to the importance of reflection in their lives.  Rep. Fred Upton welcomed the group, and a question and answer session closed the evening.
