2014 Congressional Civil Rights Pilgrimage
The Faith & Politics Institute’s 14th Congressional Civil Rights Pilgrimage took place March 7 – 9, 2014. The 2014 delegation traveled to the Mississippi Delta and then to Selma, Alabama with Pilgrimage Chairman John Lewis (D-GA). The Mississippi Pilgrimage commemorated the 50th Anniversary of the Freedom Summer and include visits to the Fannie Lou Hamer Memorial Garden, Medgar Ever’s Home, and historic Tougaloo College. After learning about Mississippi’s impact on the Civil Rights Movement, the delegation traveled to Selma, Alabama for the commemoration of the 1965 Edmund Pettus Bridge crossing. The bipartisan delegation included members of Congress and invited guests.
