It's been my impression that we all come into the world as children who want love, and if we can't get love, we settle for power. On a personal level, once power becomes the ruling archetype in a man (or woman's) psyche, that person's choices are made in order to achieve position, keep power, look good, and be in control. Power choices are not made for love-for the love (or bliss) of it, for the love (or joy) of doing it, out of love for someone or something, or for the love (or good) that is generated.

When we become conscious that our choices have to do with deciding which principle we will base them on, we can decide to go for what we love-for what has meaning or is true for us personally.

Life continually presents us with moments of decision. When we consciously make a choice that is based on love and wisdom, knowingly rejecting an alternative that would enhance our power, the first courageous decision is often the hardest. Each next time, it may become easier, until what once would have been the difficult choice become the natural one. Then, love becomes the ruling principle in our psyche.
