Liv Counsel, RN, BSN, is a psychiatric nurse, Clinical Programs Manager at Nurses for Sexual and Reproductive Health, and J.D. candidate committed to advancing disability justice, reproductive justice, racial justice, and equitable public health systems. Their clinical work in high-acuity inpatient health settings shapes a broader focus on dismantling structural inequities at the intersection of law, medicine, and policy.
Liv serves on the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council, as Policy Director for the National Disabled Law Students Association, and as an Advisory Panel Member for the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute Comparative Effectiveness Research program. They are also a member of the Association of University Centers on Disabilities National Capacity Building Center’s Development Team, contributing to disability-inclusive chronic disease prevention and management efforts nationwide. Across roles, Liv focuses on building durable, community-rooted public health infrastructure.
A parent of two teenagers, Liv approaches leadership through a relational lens, grounded in accountability, care, and intergenerational responsibility. As a member of the John Robert Lewis Fellowship, they are committed to carrying forward a legacy of principled disruption, pairing lived experience with disciplined policy work to advance structural change that makes survival and dignity nonnegotiable.
