An Oral History Project Conducted by John Robert Lewis Leader Jamal Edwards

Project Description
My oral history interview with Cheryl Johnson, former Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives, felt like a direct call to action for the next generation of leaders. With grace and conviction, Ms. Cheryl spoke about navigating public service as a Black woman, holding fast to integrity, discipline, and faith — especially during moments of national crisis like January 6th. Her testimony was both blueprint and charge, a reminder that principled leadership is an act of service and resistance. In response, I chose to frame this project as a letter to future generations, carrying her wisdom forward.
