Kaitesi Munroe
Cohort 6 Leader
NIKE, Inc.
Kaitesi Munroe is a government affairs and public policy professional focused on building bridges between communities, policymakers, and institutions to drive meaningful change. She currently serves as a Government and Public Affairs Principal at Nike, Inc., where she works at the intersection of sport, community impact, and public policy.
Throughout her career, Munroe has advanced policies that expand opportunity and improve outcomes for communities that have historically been overlooked. While at The Estée Lauder Companies, she helped lead advocacy efforts that resulted in the passage of textured hair education legislation in eight states, including New York, California, and Minnesota, ensuring cosmetology students are better equipped to serve people of all hair textures.
Motivated by her personal experience with pregnancy loss, Munroe also helped champion Ava’s Law in New York, legislation that provides greater support and recognition for families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss. Her work reflects a deep belief that policy can be a powerful tool for dignity, inclusion, and healing.
Before joining Nike, Munroe held roles across government, advocacy, and the private sector, including at Madison Square Garden and the New York State Legislature. She is passionate about civic engagement, coalition‑building, and creating pathways for more voices to help shape the decisions that impact their communities.
Munroe holds a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in African American Studies from SUNY University at Buffalo, and an M.P.A. from SUNY University at Albany. Outside of work, she enjoys coffee walks with her family, reading, dancing, and fostering connection and belonging for families and communities of color in her city.
