JRL Program Bio: Jackelinne "Jackie" Claros Benitez is an MPH candidate in Public Health Policy at NYU School of Global Public Health. She is a proud first-generation college alumna who graduated from Dartmouth College with a BA in Sociology and African & African American Studies. At Dartmouth, she worked at the First Generation Office as the Community Engagement Student Director and at the Office of Pluralism and Leadership (OPAL) as the Latine Student Coordinator.

She currently works at New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) as a Paralegal Fellow, advocating for the elderly and clients with disabilities to navigate Medicaid, Medicare, and long-term benefits such as home care services. She has a particular preference for working with minoritized families and wishes to pursue a career in health policy and public health law. Her research areas include (inter)generational trauma, mental health, and racial demographics.
