JRL Program Bio: Having grown up in historic Tuskegee, Alabama, Salena Braye-Bulls has always had a genuine interest in bettering her communities. She is a junior at University of North Carolina majoring in Public Policy and American Studies. In addition to being a John Robert Lewis Scholar, Salena is a DEI Fellow, a Will Fellow through Honors Carolina, the Editor in Chief of Black Ink Magazine, and involved with Student Government. Salena also works at the Orange County Literacy Center as a literacy tutor.
