JRL Program Bio: JR Robinson serves as the Manager of Governmental Affairs for Southern Company in its Washington, D.C. office. He handles an extensive portfolio of legislative issues on the federal level for Southern Company, as well as managing partnerships with entities outside the company. During the Mississippi 2021 Legislative session, JR had the esteemed privilege, along with a consortium of other industry companies, to help guide a critical piece of legislation that further expands rural broadband in the State of Mississippi. Currently he helps to manage telecom issues. Most recently he helped advocate for a middle mile program in that was funded in the bipartisan infrastructure bill, passed Congress and was signed by the President.
